Michael J. Hughes is the CEO and 100% shareholder of Universal Structures, Ltd., Developers/Designers/Builders. Universal Structures has been in business for over 16 years and, as a General Contractor, Michael prides himself as a hands-on developer as he maintains a serious one on one relationship with all of his clients throughout his projects.
Michael Hughes started in construction in 1978 working for Rancho Santa Fe Development in Rancho Santa Fe, California building million dollar homes.
Since that time, he has been involved in hundreds of homes and projects including a Townhouse development in Cary, Illinois. Carriage Hill is a 51-unit development with townhouses ranging in price from $200,000 to $400,000. His building expertise has developed into building multi-million dollar homes on Chicago's prestigious North Shore.
Michael has been involved in numerous restoration and remodeling projects in Kenilworth, Winnetka , Glencoe, Wilmette and Barrington, Illinois, as well as the North Shore of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As of February 2006, he is currently involved in over 15 million dollars in construction projects.
Michael maintains a highly respectable relationship within these communities and with all of his sub-contractors. In addition, he has done work for his clients with homes in Michigan, Florida and Connecticut. Universal Structures, Ltd. also donates their homes slated for demolition to the Winnetka Fire Department for training purposes.
Michael is also the CFO/Senior Partner and majority shareholder of Cara Development Group, Inc. in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin where his expertise in the development and construction of quality new single-family homes will continue to expand. In their first year, Cara showed revenues of over 3 million dollars and is currently working on multiple projects in the Milwaukee area.
He is also a partner and 25% shareholder in Tischlerei, Inc. of Osborne, Kansas, a multi-million dollar custom cabinet manufacturing company. Michael is also 75% shareholder in Tischlerei, Ltd., a subsidiary that deals in the distribution, sales and remodeling of Tischlerei custom cabinetry.
Michael currently resides in Winnetka, Illinois with his wife of 15 years and their three daughters.
